Payload does not show ads or sell your data. In fact, we go out of our way to collect and retain as little data as possible. However, some data is necessary to provide the service.
We store your device avatar, your contacts and online status in order to connect with others. If you sign in (optional), your email is linked to your devices. We keep records of online traffic metadata, so we can measure your data usage. Logs are kept for 30 days, to prevent abuse and to find bugs. If you want to delete your account and remove your data, just send us an email. You can also request what data we have on you this way. We will respond to these requests within 30 days.
We reserve the right to disable access to the service in case of abuse. Basically, don't create accounts or devices in an automated way or to circumvent the free tier, and don't spam or disrupt for other users. Note that transferring massive files does not constitute abuse.
If you want to run stress tests, reverse engineer or do security research, always do so ethically and responsibly. Don't experiment with users without their consent. If you're causing excessive load on our servers, let us know beforehand. And please report your findings, if any.
You can distribute copies of Payload privately, e.g. to devices without internet connection. Please do not to modify and/or re-distribute Payload publicly. Just link to our website instead. That way, users will always get the latest version.
